Teachers Week

During the first week of August, Faith Builders offers a four-day series of practical workshops, work sessions, and discussions with other growing and experienced teachers. Since 2003, this event has been organized and coordinated by a committee external to FBEP. Howard Bean of Ontario, Canada, is the current chair of the Teachers Week Committee.

Teachers Week 2012

Teachers Week provides an excellent way for teachers to start their school year. In 2012, Teachers Week is scheduled for Tuesday-Friday, July 31-Aug 3, 2012.

Main sessions and split sessions for newer and experienced teachers include the following:

  • "Cultivating the Affections," "Training the Will," and "Shaping the Mind" by Jonas Sauder
  • "From Passion to Purpose" by Kyle Lehman
  • "The Role of the Teacher" by Anthony Hurst
  • "The Routine of Surprise" by Chester Weaver
  • "Self-evaluation," "Intentional Growth," "Enlarging Your Vision," and "Working in the Energy of the Spirit" by Melvin Lehman

For the complete program, please review page 2 of the brochure linked below.

Registration deadline is July 23, 2012. If you are mailing your registration, please allow five days for it to reach us. Each person must complete a separate registration, unless schools use the group registration section in the printed application. Married couples may register together. Registration fees may be combined for easier payment.

One room will be designated as a display room. We invite attendees to bring projects, scrapbooks of bulletin boards, science projects, etc. for display. Anything displayed is your personal responsibility and should be clearly labeled with the owner's name.

Faith Builders arranges lodging at our campus (limited), with local families (limited), and in local motels (four persons per room). If you have special lodging needs please indicate that below. If FB arranges your lodging with a local family we reimburse your host. Please be aware of this when requesting lodging with a family in the community. If you make lodging arrangements with a local family we ask that you reimburse them the same amount as you would pay for lodging at Faith Builders.

Dress guidelines

  • General: Our goal is modesty, simplicity, and appropriate dress. We ask that flip-flops not be worn to public events.
  • Ladies: We ask that a loose-fitting cloth vest, jacket, or sweater be worn with a dress of adequate length if a modest cape is not worn.
  • Men: We ask that full-button dress shirts with stand-up collars be worn to workshops and general sessions. Tennis (or polo) shirts may be worn for recreational activities.
